CHING YUN HU (piano)

Programme

Beethoven Sonata in A major Op.101
Chopin Scherzo No.4 in E major, Op.54
Ravel Gaspard de la Nuit

Today we welcome the young Taiwanese pianist Ching-Yun Hu, who is making her Bridgewater Hall debut. Already well established on the international concert circuit, she is a major competition winner on both sides of the Atlantic and is currently a Yamaha artist. Her programme contrasts the intensity and originality of late Beethoven with the calmer temperament of the last of Chopin's 1842 scherzi and the flamboyance and demonic virtuosity of Ravel's three poems for piano of 1908,  Ondine, the water spirit, Le Gibet (Gallows) and the dwarf Scarbo.
