Yuka Ishizuka impressed the Mid-day audition panel with her full-toned, bravura approach. She will dazzle us with her flying bow and fingers in the Polish violinist- composer Weiniaski's Polonaise and Ravel's show piece Tzigane, written for the Hungarian virtuoso Jelly d'Arányi. Fauré's dreamlike song has been arranged for all manner of instrumental combinations. It has become universally loved in its versions for violin and cello. A Spanish style infuses parts of Poulenc's war-time Sonata, which he dedicated to the poet Garcia Lorca.
